Magic Tricks

During this filming and editing I managed to learn how crucial it is to keep people in the right place when doing shots. The idea behind the magic tricks uses cuts between the two different clips with changes with it. This will help me with my final music video as I want to use lots of quick editing techniques in order to make my music video more lively. I also want to try and include some of the magic trick disappearing techniques that have been practised in these videos.

Branding Research

What is the importance of synergy when creating a brand for your artist?
I think that having synergy when creating a brand for you artist is really important as without it your artist would become unrecognisable. Having synergy between different brands to help you create different fashion items as well as different designs on different product. For example, having a recognisable logo printed on new fashion items so that your audience can recognise your brand is helpful for starting brands and having a similar pattern throughout all of your work will help to keep the theme of your band. Keeping the same style helps keep the synergy of your artist brand going through all of you work, it also helps people to relate your music with your brand logos etc. and it helps everyone to know what type of music that you do from a first glance.

From looking at other bands branding, I have gained knowledge about how this genre of music artist promotes themselves and makes themselves unique in the competitive market. It has also given me ideas for things that I can include for my bands brand to make the final piece more authentic.

Photoshoot

Here are some edits that I have done over Photoshop, all these edits started off with a group of similar photos with the head facing in different directions. I then layered them on top of each other and got rid of the background on most before changing the opacity on every photo to allow you to see all of them. I then played around with the colour contrast for the levels on the photos to change the blacks to a darker and lighter shade. For the last two I inverted all of the colours from my previous work so that all of the white turns to black etc., this allows me to create a darker image using colours such as blue and black which I believe fits my theme really well.

This edit shows a step by step way in which I created this final product. These first photos are the ones which  I used as my base for the advert.

As you can see all of these different photo shoots which I did, each has helped me to improve my photo-taking abilities in order to get clean cuts when applied through Photoshop. They have also helped me think of ideas which I could use for my final piece. The practice products which I did at the top of the post helped me to learn some of the basic tools which I might need for my final piece as well as to give me an idea of how I can create the Gothic theme.

Digipak Adverts

From researching into what can be found on digipak adverts I can now see what my final product will need to include to look professional as well as giving the viewer all of the information that they need out of the poster. I have looked at the digipaks adverts from around the same genre of music which I would like to do for my final video which has given me some ideas for designs that I could use or modify when I make my final piece. Another thing that I noticed from these adverts is the positioning of the characters or centre pieces in each of the adverts, generally speaking all of the main features are in the middle third of the page which helps to guide your focus however it does not fit the rule of thirds which would help you focus on important things in the picture more such as the Paramore advert.
